« Result #2 on Dec 10, 2009, 2:20pm »

As part of my family tree research I am trying to find out any details relating to Mary Ann Blenkinsop born 1865, Newgate, Barnard Castle and her son Henry Blenkinsop born 1885, Newgate, Barnard Castle. Any help would be appreciated. Phil.

 Barnard Castle Ancestors
« Result #3 on Nov 15, 2009, 1:12am »

Researching my family history and it has lead to Barnard Castle.

I have names and dates of ancestors born in Barnard around 1830's and wondering if anyone could direct me on how I could get more info? Is there a local library? Some resource that I could search to continue my search back in time.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

AJ

Have to agree with you there the town desperately needs affordable housing for young families or the town will slowly die on its baclside.

Don't know if building cheap housing to buy is a good idea as people buy it cheap then put it on the market for a quick (and big) profit, not quite the idea is it.

How about more renting accommodation? Not social housing but private accommodation with reasonable rents not the £400 - £500 a month rents for properties that are not council owned.

no more old folks homes, I had to move away 30 years ago as could not afford to buy in Barney , even though born and lived for 21 years- I did not stand a chance.
